Reactions and Analysis
It took some time to process this total solar eclipse, so please forgive me for the delay with posting this analysis ❤
April 8, 2024: New Moon in Aries & Total eclipse over Eastern U.S. at 19° Aries in tropical astrology. This degree is described in the Sabian symbol of a young girl feeding birds in winter. A major theme that be observed in this degree and Sabian symbol is the importance of taking action, being bold and brave, making moves from the heart. A young girl might not yet understand how vital food is for the birds in winter, when other sources of food are more scarce. A young girl might not have an emotional investment in the birds, or have plans for eating them or their eggs in the future, but she takes the action to feed them anyway, just for the pleasure of feeding them. The overarching message from this eclipse is to take those actions that feel right, that come from the heart. This message is a reminder that when we move through this lifetime in a state of love, there is enough to go around, we are in abundance.
A Sun-Moon connection is also associated with connecting conscious awareness to the emotional body and connecting emotional awareness to the conscious mind. During this period of time, we may notice more aches and pains than usual, or have thoughts that we tend to suppress. There may also be more dreams that stay with us after waking up in the morning than usual. This can be the result of a better connection between the conscious mind and the emotional body. We tend to suppress or ignore the wounds and reactions that interfere with our attachments to others, especially primary caregivers in early childhood. So whenever we have more awareness of these old wounds there may be opportunities for healing. Experience the reemergence of whatever has been suppressed or ignored with patience and love. Invest in your own health and well-being as freely as the young girl who feeds birds in the winter. Take the time to process the information your own body and mind are sharing with you. You will receive the reward of more ease within yourself, which can result in better health, better relationships, more peace of mind, and increase participation in the flow of abundance.
The archetypal interpretation of a Sun-Moon connection is a balancing of yin/yang energy. While the Sun is too bright for our human eyes to look at for an extended period of time, and definitely too bright to allow us to observe the corona, an eclipse gives us that opportunity to look at the corona and observe the connection with the Sun and Moon for at least the duration of totality (with eclipse glasses, we can observe the Sun and Moon connection for the entire event). This is an incredible period of time as the distance between the Sun and the Moon, and the size of the Sun and Moon are exactly perfect enough that we can experience the phenomenon of an eclipse. The Moon was not always at the right distance from the Earth and Sun to create that apparent similarity in size with the Sun; and it will not always be at that right distance. This is very mathematical and astronomical, but when the eclipse occurs it becomes artistic, spiritual and awe-inspiring. Those of us who are alive during this period of time are under the influence of these eclipses, whether we witness them personally or not. We should be able to observe total eclipses for the next 600 million years, give or take, so there is no immediate rush to go find the next total eclipse. However, going back to the idea of balancing yin/yang energy, the total eclipse allows us an opportunity to truly experience what a perfect balance of yin/yang energy can look like. There is so much beauty in that moment, it is hard to even put into words. The change in light, the drop in temperature, the gentle breeze the follows, the hush that falls over the land during an eclipse, and the total focus on what is going on in the sky is the living embodiment of that yin/yang balance. It was such a privilege to be able to witness that personally.
During this eclipse period, we have also been experiencing the influence of:
Last Solar Eclipse (~6 months): October 14, 2023; Sun-Moon 21° Libra emphasizing the Me-We axis asking us to be more balanced and mindful about how we engage with relationships
Pluto ingress into Aquarius (~21 years) empowering connections and eliminating anything unsustainable for future generations; the transition of Pluto into Pisces will coincide with the next total solar eclipse over the continental United States in 2044
Last Venus Star (~9 months): August 13, 2023; 20°28’ Leo VSP in Morning star phase – seeks a life worth living and being proud of what one is able to manifest
Last Jupiter-Saturn conjunction (~20 years): December 21, 2020; 0°29’ Aquarius *this was the closest conjunction of these two planets since 1623 and started a new era of Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions in Air signs).
And, of course, who can leave out of the Mercury retrograde: April 1, 2024-April 25, 2024; 27°-15° Aries; 24 days; Mercury Rx in fire signs enhances excuberance and fuels creativity
